The 278th RCT in Iraq: A 'volunteer' heritage and a critical mission

Article Abstract:

The responsibilities of the 278th Regimental Combat Team (RCT) consisting of patrolling the eastern side of the 42nd Infantry Division's Task Force Liberty and the Iraq-Iran border, while they were stationed in Iraq are described. Their work in Iraq during the Operation Iraqi Freedom has added another accolade to the rich history of the regiment and highlighted the loyalty of the soldiers towards the unit and the other members of the regiment.

Leadership: learning the ropes

Article Abstract:

A visit to Norwich University's ROTC Mountain and Cold Weather Company is described. Established in 1947, the program at Norwich has produced Army officers who have a familiarity with cold weather and mountainous terrain operations.

Recognition of heroic deeds at the Pentagon on September 11: valor, pain and tears

Article Abstract:

The September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the Pentagon killed 125 people who were in the building, plus another 64 who were aboard the airplane. Some 70 soldiers and civilians received awards for valor displayed during the tragedy.
