Major combat in Iraq

Article Abstract:

The U.S. and Iraqi troops encircled Fallujah and began a major assault on November 8, 2004 in an operation called 'Al Fajr', the largest combat operation since the conventional phase of the war, to eliminate the resistance there. Command of the operation is under the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, however, major elements of the Army's 1st Infantry Division are involved.

Deterrence posture and the Islamic world: Thirteen presumptions questioned

Article Abstract:

The assumptions or presumptions that seems not examined during Operation Iraqi Freedom planning are questioned. Thirteen such presumptions are stated to help promote a more wide-ranging debate and analysis of these issues.
