The Army's venture capital initiative

Article Abstract:

The Army and MILCOM Technologies, a small private equity firm with expertise in the defense and commercial sectors worked together to establish OnPoint Technologies, the Army's venture capital initiative. The primary objective is to accelerate the transition of new or significantly improved technologies into the US Army and more specifically, into the hands of soldiers.

The cost and value of the Army's system of education periodically come into question as budgeters, force managers and visionaries seek ways to do more technology and better techniques. Over the years many proposals, plans, experiments and directives are aiming to reduce the demands for educating and training soldiers.

Defense authorization bill increases benefits

Article Abstract:

The 2001 Defense Authorization Bill extending TRICARE health care coverage for military retirees was passed by Congress. Funds were also increased for Army transformation of armored vehicles.
