Operation RED WINGS

Article Abstract:

Operation RED WINGS, a combined forces operation in eastern Afghanistan that began in June 2005, was intended to demonstrate an ongoing, aggressive mindset to local Afghani forces and the anti-coalition militants (ACM) while seeking to destroy ACM elements in the region. However, the operation's effectiveness as a joint operation was limited, primarily because the principle of unity of command was ignored.
