The seas have never been safer

Article Abstract:

The need to incorporate changes in the naval service shipbuilding plan with a view to prepare for the non-traditional threats from terrorists is emphasized. Provision of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to fill gaps in coverage where terrorist operations or movements are suspected, would accompany an integrated maritime surveillance picture that could be used in the effort to identify terrorists or threatening weapons on ships headed toward the United States.

Air-launched: Cruise missiles

Article Abstract:

AGM-84K Standoff Land-Attack Missile-Expanded Response and AGM-84D Harpoon are the cruise missiles commissioned in the U.S. Navy. AGM-84D Harpoon is an autonomous, all weather, antiship missile, which has a lower level, sea-skimming cruise trajectory and active radar guidance giving it high accuracy and affectivity.
