Article Abstract:

Senior Marines, who are expert in the operations of their commands, suggest that while sharing information among subordinates or higher units, selection of the proper system is important. The [C.sup.2] computer system that functions in the COC is most suited in a combat which also helps the commander in decision making for which a trained competent operator is required.

Expedient ordnance/munitions destruction

Article Abstract:

The destruction of captured enemy ordnance proved to be a time-consuming endeavor for the combat engineers during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Some of the techniques used by the combat engineers to conduct several explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and demilitarizing weapons missions are described.

Issues are presented concerning the provision of a truly versatile weapon as a replacement for the automatic rifle. The M249 squad automatic weapon should be retired after its 20 years of faithful service.
