Turning MIS into a hit: U.K.'s procurement minister insists on industry consolidation

Article Abstract:

The Maritime Industrial Strategy (MIS) aims to reshape and rationalize the shipbuilding industry in the wake of a throughput fall. Lord Paul Drayson, Minister of Defense Procurement emphasizes that industry cooperation, such as that between the BAE Systems and VT Group to bring together their respective surface warship building and support activities, is necessary for the MIS programme to make headway.

Danish Absalon-class support ship works up to operational deployment

Article Abstract:

The introduction of two new Absalon-class combat support ships designed for the Royal Danish Navy that would be operational by end April 2008 is discussed. Absalon ship and similar HDMS both have a lot of space and facilities on board and in addition can serve as command platforms.
