US looking at reduced ricochet rounds for use in urban combat

Article Abstract:

The Nordic ammunition company, Nammo is in the process of discussions with the US armed forces about the possible use of its reduced ricochet range (R3) target practice ammunition during military operations in urban terrain (MOUT). The TP-R3 product is developed to allow fighter pilots to practice strafing of ground targets with a 90% reduced risk of rounds ricocheting off the ground into aircraft's flight path.

Hand-held radios--handiwork for network-enabled warfare

Article Abstract:

The next generation Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) hand-held radio is targeted at the wider US Army dismounted user community and is intended to be fully compliant with the JTRS operational requirements document. However, doubts are raised regarding the timely availability of the hand-held radios and whether or not it would genuinely be apt for its particular purpose when it does arrive.

Modular missile programs are poised for progression

Article Abstract:

The background and status of different national and joint development of 'modular' missiles for configuration, which will reduce costs and delay degeneration, are examined. Some of the programs examined are European Modular Munitions program and Future Combat Systems (FCS) Non-Line-Of-Sight Launch System (NLOS-LS).
