Article Abstract:

The Link 16 tactical datalinks in the squadron's F/A-18D fighters is becoming prevalent in the battlespace after more than a decade of development. The limitations of Link 16 include incompatibility of messaging formats between services, lack of standard message formats among warfighting platforms and an anemic data rate and routine delays of data.

'Pipe dream' becomes reality as sub training enters information age

Simulation-based training program using sophisticated virtual reality software reduces the term of training and is also a more economically feasible option. Some such new technologies for sub training in the information age are reported.
