Apocrypha meets The Pentagon Papers: the appeals to the X-Files to the X-Phile

Article Abstract:

The conflicted and conflictual nature of the American sociopolitical milleu at the end of 20th century and the beginning of the new millennium forms as a background for the examination of the construction of the X-Phile, and the appeals of the series to this self-selected group. The appeals of 'The X-Files that are found in its complexity is discussed.

X-Philes: imaginations of millenial anxieties

Article Abstract:

A critical examination of The X-Files was carried out to examine its formula for success. It included narrative originality, social commentary, and cultural resonance to a degree rare in prime time network commercial entertainment television, but not so uncommon within the tradition of TV science fiction.
