In-dash CD players with built in amplifiers appeal to consumers discouraged by fancy, multi-amplifier systems. Manufacturers such as Pioneer and Nakamichi introduced various new products.

The Digital Compact Cassette (DCC) was the most interesting new product exhibited at the 1992 Winter CES. Recent developments in video were displayed at the show, but new technologies like high resolution television (HDTV) and line doubling have not yet led to commercially viable mass-market products.
