When Punch met Merry

Article Abstract:

A performance by the Headington Quarry Morris Dancers on December 26, 1899 is significant because they and their chief musician William Kimber caught the attention of Cecil Sharp. Sharp went on to collect and document the music, dances and costumes of Morris Dancers, keeping the tradition alive for posterity.
