The government of Zaire quarantined the city of Kikwit to help stop the spread of the Ebola virus. Officials in Ottawa, Canada, stated that the spread of the virus to Canada was unlikely. There is no vaccine for the disease, but the virus apparently does not spread through casual contact.

Cancer researcher Lorne Brandes has published several studies on the tendency of some antidepressants and antihistamines to promote tumor growth in lab animals. Two of Brandes' cancer patients showed reduction of cancer when these drugs were stopped.
