A doomsday scenario for Canada in 1996

One possible scenario that could occur sometime in 1996, is Bouchard could call for a confidence vote and take that as a mandate for secession. Vancouver, BC, political analyst Pat McGeer believes secession is inevitable and Canadians should start considering the positives aspects of separation.

Johnson could win the next Quebec referendum, expected in 1999. He nearly defeated Parti Quebecois leader Jacques Parizeau in the 1994 provincial election and won the 1995 referendum campaign when he forced Jean Chretien to give Quebec a regional veto on constitutional change.
