Texas masterpiece

Article Abstract:

In his work on the Kimbell Museum in Fort Worth, TX, architect Louis Kahn successfully combined issues including external form, interior space and construction, and was able to use traditional forms to create a modern building. The location of the building dictated that it should determine its own identity and immediate setting, and Kahn was able to design an impressive structure on a large site, using outdoor rooms to create a sense of unity across the site. The building's structure is discussed in detail.
