The older a woman is the more susceptible to breast cancer she is, though the rates for survival have increased. Treatments are more effective and, with diligent care, risks may be reduced. An important new implement is the computerized Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Tool which allows a woman and her doctor to determine the odds of her developing breast cancer over the next five years.

All-pro linebacker Chris Spielman suffered a neck injury in 1997 that would take him from the game. Around the same time he also learned that his wife, Stefanie, had breast cancer. He quit the game while she went underwent treatment and was determined to recover himself. Now that she is well, he is back in the game. They explain how they got through this difficult time in their lives.

Women climb against cancer

Article Abstract:

A group of breast cancer survivors plan to climb Aconcagua in Argentina as part of a program called Expedition Inspiration. The climbers range in age from 22 to 61. Members of the group recently completed a Mount Ranier climb.
