AT&T Digital One Rate connects

Article Abstract:

AT&T's flat-rate wireless calling plan, Digital One Rate, has boosted the company's 1998 third-quarter revenues by 19.4% and raise its earnings for the period by 68% to $1.96 billion, or $1.09 a share. Digital One rate offers a choice of three prices, starting at about $90 a month, for use with an AT&T $200 phone that enables near nationwide coverage through AT&T's two digital frequencies as well as analog communications system. AT&T's rivals have promoted similar flat-rate calling plans, such as Bell Atlantic Mobile's Single Rate USA plan. Sprint PCS' Home Rate USA plan, which came out earlier than Digital One Rate, is not as successful because it runs only on digital networks.

Iridium aims for quick bankruptcy resolution

Article Abstract:

Iridium is looking to formulate a viable restructuring program to hasten its emergence from bankruptcy and focus on its $5-billion global satellite telephone business. The company fell under Chapter 11 reorganization after it defaulted on bank loans of $1.6 billion and missed the payment for a $90-million interest. Iridium announced that almost 70% of its creditors have agreed on a restructuring program and that an agreement could be reached within a month.
