After 25 Years, Show's Last Season of Emotion-Laden Interviews

Barbara Walters has informed ABC News president David Westin that she will leave the network's newsmagazine "20/20" in September. After 25 years of providing highly watched interviews with famous and internationally renowned people, Walters, who is 74, wants to do only five or six news specials and appearances on the show she created "The View." She wants more personal time for friends, reading and the possibility of writing a book about her career.

Networks Find Reality Has Become A Part of Life

The popularity of reality TV shows has altered how television networks are trying to maximize television advertising revenue. Reality programs are drawing higher numbers of TV viewers. NBC's 'Average Joe' and Fox TV's 'The Simple Life' are two examples of shows that are outdrawing comedy and drama series and attracting younger audiences whom advertisers want to reach.
