Polaroid Corp.'s core business is declining, but hopes that its future success will be powered by its new digital printing technologies, Onyx and Opal, introduced in May. Investors are concerned about the firm's short-term debt of $549 million, and the prospect of refinancing.

Millions Frozen In Doctors' Assets In U.S. Tax Case

The Internal Revenue Service believes that about 4,000 doctors and dentists evaded $420 million in taxes with tax shelters purchased through Xelan, the Economic Association of Health Professionals. Dr. L. Donald Guess, the founder of Xelan is under criminal investigation in San Diego.

Appeals Court Rules Investors Can't Sue Seller of Tax Shelter

A federal appeals court ruled against investors who sued BDO Seidman and the Deutsche Bank over an illegal tax shelter, because there was no evidence that the firms set out to deceive the investors.
