Meet Roslyn Platt, a Customer Of Putnam. She's Not Amused

Article Abstract:

Eighty-year-old retiree and Putnam investor Roslyn Platt decided to sell her mutual fund shares after she learned about the stock trading scandal that is undermining one of the country's strongest mutual fund companies. She had believed in Putnam's reliability and integrity, but her new attitude reflects growing investor distrust. Mutual funds, a $7 trillion industry, are held by 90 million Americans who now must deal with the trustworthiness of their investments. If investors continue to withdraw funds, fund managers could be limited in their financial flexibility. Because Putnam, Janus and Strong are under investigation, there is concern over the impact of investor withdrawal.
