BUSH SET TO LIFT TARIFFS ON STEEL

Article Abstract:

Pres. Bush has decided to reverse his steel tariff policy, and his administration will announce the decision today. The World Trade Organization indicated in November that the tariffs were unacceptable and that European, Asian and South American governments could impose tariffs against US exports to their countries. Bush had also faced pressure from users of imported steel because the tariffs and increased costs for their products were impacting their attempts to revive the US economy.
