Bell seeks cable TV carrier status

Article Abstract:

The US nation's largest telephone company, BCE Inc.'s Bell Canada is asking regulators for approval to deliver television over phone lines. The battle between telecoms and cable has intensified with Bell Canada filing two applications to Canadian Radio-television and Television communications Commission for cable licenses to serve 11 urban centres in Ontario and Quebec, including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Quebec City.
