The Airborne's fall

Canada's Defence Ministry terminated its Airborne Regiment in response to several incidents involving paratroopers, including a murder in Somalia and videos depicting hazing rituals. The unit's commander, Colonel Peter Kenward, believes that the discipline problems were correctable.

The Reform party's days of discontent: Jan Brown's departure opens fresh wounds

Article Abstract:

Calgary MP Jan Brown switched her allegiance from Reform party to Independent after Reform leader Preston Manning suspended Brown for criticizing two other party members. The two had made disparaging remarks about gays and blacks during a debate over a gay-rights bill.
