CAW asks Ford to pledge safety of 2,000 jobs

Article Abstract:

Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd's chief negotiator Don McKenzie is unwilling to guarantee the security over 2,000 jobs at the automaker's iron casting plant in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, and engine plant in Essex, Ontario, Canada. The two plants' future is uncertain as the Windsor plant is at risk of becoming obsolete with the transition to lightweight materials, while the Essex plant is expected to have no more work to do in 2002. The Canadian Auto Workers' (CAW) three-year labor agreement with Ford, General Motors of Canada Ld and DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc is set to expire on Sept 21, 1999.

Governance survey reveals aging boards

Article Abstract:

A new survey of corporate governance in Canada's corporate boards reveals that they are slowly growing older with more directors over age 71 and fewer directors under age 60. It was found from the extensive annual study of board composition, practices and compensation reveal there were huge increases in director pay in Canada in 2003.
