CHINA: INACCURATE ACCOUNTING REPORTS DETECTED
Article Abstract:
According to China's Ministry of Finance, certified accountants will have their professional qualifications being withdrawn, should inaccurate accounting reports were made by them. The order is made in line with the discoveries on false accounting reports made by 147 Chinese firms. These firms that are engaging in the fields of machine building, cars and telecommunication services do not reflect their true financial situations in their reports. The inspection was made randomly covering 117 accounting agencies and 159 companies.

Liaoning Telecom that runs under China Telecommunications will get equipment worth US$ 15 mn from Lucent Technologies, telecommunications equipment producer from the US. Equipment of Lucent to be put into operations by May 2001 has transmission speed of 440 gigabits per second. Named as WaveStar OLS 400G, the optical networking product that deploys dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) system has per-second transmission speed of 80 mn pages of emails, or 5 mn phone calls.
