CIBC shuffles its ranks, readies for succession: Hunkin may be preparing to depart as McCaughey named to new roles

Article Abstract:

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) has replaced the executive CEO John Hunkin in a key strategic role while promoting Gerry McCaughey to the newly created role of the president and chief operating officer in December 2004. As part of the executive changes, CIBC reported that Brian Shaw would replace Mc. McCaughey as chairman of its investment bank arm CIBS World Markets, and Steve McGirr would be appointed president of the unit.
