Cable gets zapped: a wave of consumer protest prompts Rogers to rethink the launch of new channels

Rogers Cablesystems Ltd backed off from its original plan to automatically invoke a rate increase of $2.65 per month for seven new Canadian-content cable channels. Thousands of cable customers protested the use of negative option marketing, and some politicians are considering banning the practice.
