Cadillac Fairview put up for sale

Article Abstract:

Cadillac Fairview Corp, the biggest property owners in North America, officially put itself on sale on Sep 28, 1999, after considering other options that include recapitalization of the firm. Mall owners based in the US were cited as potential buyers for Cadillac Fairview's shopping centers in Canada, which represents approximately 60% of the firm's entire portfolio. The C$4.6-billion assets of Toronto, Canada-based Cadillac Fairview are divided into such segments as office assets in Canada, shopping centers in Canada and shopping centers in the US.

Nortel faces U.S. criminal probe

Article Abstract:

United States authorities have launched a criminal investigation into Nortel Networks Corp. and ordered the embattled company to hand over a host of documents and employee files claiming the jobs of three top executives. The U.S. attorney's office in Dallas, where Nortel has its headquarters, is also probing the company's stock option plans.

Early retirees putting a strain on CPP

The Canada Pension Plan's retirement program are reported to be too high for early retirees. The report, which was studied by the Office of the Chief Actuary, may promt major changes to the country's retirement system for workers wanting to retire before age sixty five.
