Canada, Brazil to resume subsidy talks

Article Abstract:

Canada and Brazil are scheduled to resume talks in two weeks to negotiate regarding matters of subsidies to regional jet makers, thus are expected to reach a bilateral deal, as reported on 30 September 2004. The hope that a memorandum of understanding could be signed that doesn't completely resolve the dispute but recognizes the progress made is stated.

Canada urged to boost trade with poorer nations

Article Abstract:

The head of the World Bank group gently took Canada to task for not doing all it can help in the development of poorer countries by boosting its trade with them. Only about eight percent of Canada's external trade is with developing countries and that is not enough, especially given how dependent Canada is on trade with the US.

Canada rejects U.S. lumber proposal

Article Abstract:

Pierre Pettigrew, Canada's Trade Minister, met with provincial ministers to criticize a U.S. proposal to end a trade dispute with Canada over softwood lumber. The Canadian government argued that the proposal fails to offer Canadian companies suitable access to U.S. markets.
