Caring for Alzheimer's victims

Article Abstract:

Caring for a family member suffering from Alzheimer's disease is both a physically and emotionally taxing task. The patient's loss of his mental faculty is often manifested through violent outbursts, loss of control of physical functions and tendency to fall and stumble. The carer has to understand the patient's behavior, no matter how irritating it could be. When the patient reaches the advanced stage of the disorder and the carer is no longer able to bear the toil and discomfort of the job, a nursing home could be a good alternative. To assuage guilt feelings in the carer and other family members, such a move should be discussed long before the need for it comes.

Toll on caregivers

Article Abstract:

The physical and emotional strain experienced by family members and caretakers of patients with Alzheimer's disease is so great that incidence of abandonment have started to crop up. The problem is known as 'granny dumping' and it involves leaving the patient on the doorstep of hospital emergency rooms or even in public places. Even nursing homes have become guilty of the practice when they transfer difficult patients to hospitals.

Is restitution the best way to seek justice for Holocaust victims and survivors?

Article Abstract:

Some prominent members of the Jewish community fear the horrors of the Holocaust may be overshadowed by the drive for compensation for Holocaust-era crimes. Some say lawyers and institutions are calling for justice for Holocaust victims, but are holding money over morality in the zeal for compensation.
