Internet king Case puts his crown on the table

Article Abstract:

America Online Inc (AOL) has a new CEO in Gerald Levin, who was appointed CEO of the media, entertainment and communications company that resulted with the consolidation of Internet service provider AOL and media giant Time Warner. Levin's appointment occurred when AOL CEO Steve Case voluntarily gave up his position, a development that is believed by many as necessary condition for AOL's acquisition of Time Warner.

Insurers' deal stirs revolt

Article Abstract:

Prudential has unveiled plans to buy rival American General for $26.5 billion in stock. The news resulted in a dive in Prudential shares by 15%, slashing the initial takeover offer by almost $4 billion in the worst one- day rout for the London, UK-based insurer in more than a decade. The initial unpopularity of the deal, which would rank as the largest trans- Atlantic financial-services merger, prompted speculation that other suitors could enter the fray.
