Cement drivers reach tentative deal

The Teamsters Local 230 labor union has reached an agreement that would send its 650 striking concrete truck drivers back to work in the Greater Toronto Area. The 9-week-old strike, which had brought many construction projects to a halt, had targeted cement companies.

CanWest TV workers push for one union

A single labor union that would represent the television workers at CanWest Global Communications Corp. is being organized by the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers union. The proposed union is the subject of a hearing of the Canadian Industrial Relations Board.

CAW abandons fight for union at Ontario Wal-Mart

Wal-Mart Canada Inc.'s store in Windsor, Ontario will not be unionized by the Canadian Auto Workers. The CAW labor union decided to abandon the unionization effort after a four-year struggle with the retail giant.
