Barnes & Noble's 20% investment in Chapter's Inc. will help the bookstore chain meet its goal to dominate the Canadian market. Although the money will actually go into Chapters' parent company, Canadian General Capital Ltd, Chapters will benefit from Barnes & Noble's retail expertise.

The family of Montreal native Johanne Harvey has been subject to several acts of cruelty at their Owen Sound home, but the Georgian Bay community is taking steps to ensure that the francophone family feels welcome in the town. Mayor Stew Taylor issued a personal apology to Harvey.

Pop with bite: will teens find 'alcopops' irresistible?

Article Abstract:

Organizations concerned with alcohol abuse believe that teenagers are the main consumers of 'alcopop' beverages, sweet, soda-like drinks containing alcohol. Sales of the drinks, which contain about as much alcohol as beer, are expected to reach $700 million in 1997.
