The Canadian press was typically hostile to Pierre Trudeau because of his disdainful attitudes, and Brian Mulroney has inherited this hostile media attitude. The adversarial slant of the Canadian media towards politicians is out of control and needs to be examined.

The United Nations has judged Canada to be the best place in the world to live. That news seems to amuse most Canadians, who take pride in being disgruntled with their country. Some say it could be a good-humored joke, allowing Canadians to poke fun at themselves.
