The Public Broadcasting Service thrives on its reputation as the country's biggest classroom with its all-out emphasis on educational programming. Its broadcasts are aired to 29.5 million students. It has also become the leader in 'long-distance learning' where lectures are sent to students' homes via personal computers or through cable television. The broadcasting network's participation in satellite telecommunications has earned it some criticism fromprivate providers who have begun to look at the network as a competitor.

Article Abstract:

Administrative policies favoring family leave are meeting opposition from the business sectors. Companies feel that they are likely to lose valuable returns if they become more lenient with their workers. Stronger opposition comes from the small industries which believe that approved legislation on family leave would mean difficulty in maintaining the business. Workers insist that they are entitled to spend more time with their families. Such is the predicament of America's working class.
