Fleming's bad timing caused rift with TSE board

Article Abstract:

Rowland Fleming has resigned president of the Toronto Stock Exchange. Fleming has not offered any reasons for his sudden departure. His departure came a month after he issued a statement suggesting that Canada needs single stock exchange with regional offices, shortly after the country's four exchanges started negotiations to realign their operations.;Fleming's conflict with TSE's member brokerages broke into the open in 1998 when he said that the exchange would invest C$47 million for Y2K compliance.

With an engineering degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and a Masters in Business Administration from Yale University, Sharp recently acted as Executive Vice President, Vacation Ownership at Four Seasons. He lead the company in its successful venture into the Vacation Ownership business.
