Defense: sinking feeling

Article Abstract:

Australia's Collins submarine project is continually having problems and is already two years behind schedule. The submarines' combat computer software, which allows navigation and sensor systems to be fully integrated, is not working. These submarines are planned to be Australia's strategic defense against any invasion. They help in intelligence gathering. They also intercept and destroy forces attempting to cross to northern Australia.

The fugitive kind

Article Abstract:

An underground network exists in Australia to transport criminals out of the country. Criminals often gain passage on boats in north Australia to ports in Asia. A typical price for escape is $20,000. It is a dangerous life. Even if criminals escape, they are often indebted to work overseas for the criminal network that arranged their flight.
