Deloitte protests RCMP contract won by rival

Article Abstract:

Deloitte and Touche Consulting Group of Ottawa, Ontario, has filed a complaint with the Canadian International Trade Tribunal regarding a C$1- million contract to help in overhauling the operations of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Deloitte, which lost the contract to rival PricewaterhouseCooper, said that the Dept of Public Works and Government Services failed in its job to assess the four competing bids. The firm was removed from the bidding process because a key member of its project team did not have federal government security clerance level at the time of the bid.

Imoney.com duo banks on U.S. expansion

Imoney.com Inc of Toronto, Ontario, runs a personal Web site that acts as portal for competing financial organizations to sell their services online. The site links customers to banks, trusts, insurers and mutual fund companies, and allows consumers to conduct transactions and find information on stock prices, mortgage rates and credit card rates. The company has posted a revenue of C$350,000 in 1998 and is projecting sales of C$2 million in 1999 and C$4.5 million in 2000.

Cossette going public to raise cash for takeovers

Article Abstract:

Cossette Commmunication Group Inc, the largest marketing and advertising agency in Canada, hopes to raise $35 million to C$40 million in an initial public offering scheduled by mid-June 1999. The company plans to use the proceeds to fund acquisitions in the US and Canada. The move is a major one for the firm, which has remained independent in an industry dominated by multinational agencies.
