The three major US automobile manufacturers have introduced prooducts that have cut the competitive edge once completely held by the Japanese. The Ford Taurus is an example of such a vehicle, it is a serious contender to the Honda Accord, the number one selling car in the US. Chrysler's approach is to manufacture vehicle types not produced by the Japanese. Sport-utility vehicles such as the Cherokee Jeep are popular with consumers. The General Motors contribution is the Saturn, classified as a small-car type vehicle, it is equally popular with American motorists.

Will the Year 2000 computer bug result in a global recession?
Article Abstract:
While some believe Year 2000 computer problems will disrupt the global economy, other claim it is a cruel hoax. There are varying opinions on the readiness of U.S. companies to be compliment and of the cost of Y2K compliance. Fears of small and medium-size companies causing a weak link in the business chain are exaggerated as these companies rely on outsourcing and retail software where third-party vendors take responsibility for compliance.
