Dollar declines on news of job losses

The Bank of Canada may reduce interest rates in July if economic conditions in North America continue to deteriorate. The country's unemployment rate reached 7.8% in May compared with 7.5% in April 2003.

Central bank trims key rate

Article Abstract:

The Bank of Canada has lowered interest rates by one-quarter of a percentage point. Interest rates are now at 2.75%. The bank said that this would be last reduction made for the foresseable future.
