Ecotourism: 'Green' chic

Article Abstract:

The upscale trend in ecotourism, is a sign that environmental sustainability is having a real effect on the travel industry as a whole. More than 200 tourism operators or near sensitive or protected areas in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize and Ecuador are receiving training in the 'best practices' of sustainable tourism, including waste management, water and electricity conservation, as well as such social factors as paying adequate salaries and including local and indigenous people in decision making.
