The resurgence of the extreme right in German politics can be blunted if the mainstream German political parties can effectively deal with the problems created by the influx of immigrants. There is a perception among many Germans that political asylum seekers are treated better than citizens.

The only people who are now seeking public office are those that choose to allow society to place ridiculous demands on them. To subject themselves to such investigation, a prospective politician must have virtually no personal dignity.
