Europeans toughen cigarette rules

Article Abstract:

The 15-nation European Union is implementing new restrictions on cigarette making and marketing that could force tobacco companies to transfer production to other countries. The restrictions include allowing individual countries to require cigarette packs to display graphic pictures of diseased lungs, stained teeth and other smoking-related problems; requiring manufacturers to cover 30% of the front of every pack and 40% of the back with health warnings; and banning the words 'light' or 'mild' in brand names, as well as prohibiting companies from describing their brands as 'low tar' or 'low nicotine.'

International travel down significantly. Major hotels from all over the world are reporting drastic drops in hotels reseverations, leasure travel is down an estimated 40 percent, with business travel down only 15 percent.
