Faster data connection waits impatiently in line

Article Abstract:

An advanced form of DSL, called very high-speed digital subscriber line (VDSL), holds the promise of offering consumers data, telephone and television services simultaneously. The service works using existing copper telephone lines, costs less than cable and offers faster service. VDSL is currently being offered by Next Level Communications to 100,000 households throughout the United States.

Google extends search engine's reach to a popular file format

Article Abstract:

Internet search engine Google.com has now added 13 million Portable Document Format (PDF) files to its index which already holds 1.3 billion Web pages. The company says it has added 70% of the PDF files publicly available. The PDF files are used for complex and/or long documents and can be images or text. Google is the first search engine to offer a PDF-file index.
