US Airways eyes shutdown

Article Abstract:

US Airways plans to shut down operations at 12:01 am on Mar 25, 2000, if it fails to reach a contract agreement with its Assn of Flight Attendants union. The 10,000-member union has threatened to disrupt a number of US Airways flights through unannounced work stoppages if a contractual agreement is not reached by that date. The airline says that the union threat has left it no option except to close, if no settlement is reached, because the work stoppages would erode its market.
