Finance, rebate deals fuel jump in car sales

Article Abstract:

Sales of cars in Canada rose when auto markers Daimler-Chrysler Canada Inc., Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. and General Motors of Canada Ltd. offered rebates and cheap financing. Zero-percent loans were offered by Mazda Canada Inc., Daewoo Auto Canda Inc. and Hyundai Auto Canada. Low percent loans were offered by Toyota Canada Inc., and Honda Canada Inc. Mercedes-Benz Canada Inc. and Land Rover Canada reported that their sales dipped during the month.

FuelMaker to offer at-home gas station

American Honda Motor Company Inc. has acquired a 20% stake in FuelMaker Corp. Toronto, Ont.-based FuelMaker is attempting to develop a refueling device for motor vehicles that operate on natural gas.

Ford buys another automotive recycler

Article Abstract:

Ford Motor Company of Canada Ltd.'s acquisition of Lecavalier Auto Parts makes it the largest automotive scrapyard operator in Canada. The acquisition is Ford's third purchase of a scrapyard in 2000.
