Flash and blood

Article Abstract:

Flash memory technology such as Sony's Memory Stick could make it easy to transfer data among digital cameras, stereos and camcorders. SanDisc's Secure Digital flash memory has been licensed to about 300 manufacturers, including Palm Computing, Motorola and Panasonic. Those formats compete with CompactFlash and SmartMedia, which have 40% and 32% of the market (vs 25% for Sony and 15% for SanDisc). But not all of the formats will survive, according observers who predict that at most three formats will survive.
