Reinemund faces Pepsi challenge

Article Abstract:

PepsiCo Chmn and CEO Roger Enrico is resigning his CEO post by the end of 2001 and his chairmanship by yearend 2002. Enrico is giving way to Steve Reinemund, a former Marine who moved to Pepsico as president and COO in 1999. Reinemund was previously with PepsiCo's Frito-Lay division for seven years. Prior to that, he headed Pizza Hut which Pepsi spun off in 1996. Reinemund will take over at a time when Pepsi will still be adjusting to a management reorganization announced in Jul 2000.

For first time, Coke puts kids of color on collectible cans

Article Abstract:

Coca-Cola Co has announced the addition of two children of color on the packaging of collectible cans for its 2000 holiday promotion in North America. The soft drinks giant decided to electronically add the children to reflect the firm's "think local, act local" strategy. In addition, the company hopes to show a different direction after the settlement of a racial discrimination lawsuit in November 2000.

Coca-Cola hopes taking new path leads to success

Article Abstract:

'New Coke' has become the buzzword for CEO Douglas Daft's plan to reorganize Coca-Cola around innovation and local decision-making. Daft has restructured the soft drink giant into four divisions that led to the ouster of COO Jack Stahl. Daft's 'think local, act local' strategy is designed to return Coca-Cola to the basics. These include recruiting more local staff and allowing field managers to tailer marketing to their respective regions.
