Fund says trust rules devastating: Teachers fears changes will hinder its ability to enter into private equity deals

Firm seeks return of water export permit

Article Abstract:

Nova Group of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, wants to get back its license to export water from Lake Superior in Ontario. In May 1998, the company received a permit from the Ontario government to export Lake Superior fresh water to Asia, only to lose it again after it set off a nationwide debate about the environmental and international trade consequences of exporting fresh water. Ontario's environmental assessment board is now reviewing the company's request to an appeal, said Karen Vaux, a spokeswoman for Ontario Environment Minister Norm Sterling.
