The Canadian economy that has rebounded from a five-month lull in July 2003, posting a surprising growth of 0.6 percent from a month earlier, is discussed. Manufacturing leads the gain followed by mining and real estate.

Central Bank expected to cut rates

The Bank of Canada will lower its key lending rate by 0.25 percentage points on September 3, 2003. The bank is lowering rates because of controlled inflation and weak economic output.
